Why Brain Based Therapy
Brain Based Therapy is a neurology-based analysis used to determine weakness/lack of function in the brain. From this we determine the appropriate treatment. Neurological degeneration is part of life, brain cells are constantly dying. Chronic conditions only accelerate the process. Our goal with Brain Based Therapy is to slow down the inevitable degeneration to bring back function and quality of life.
The majority of the patients we encounter have tried numerous other doctors and therapies. They have reached a place where they no longer have normal parasympathetic nerve dominance. Homeostasis, the body’s desired state, is characterized by normal stomach and heart function; a contented state of maximum ease and effectiveness.
Instead they have reached a state of Sympathetic Dominance with elevated heart rate and blood pressure, anxiety and inability to calm down. Their body’s have become hyperactive, hypersensitive and hyper-reactive.
There are many possible causes in today’s fast paced lives and lifestyles: chemical exposure, physical stresses, nutrient-poor foods, family/relationship stresses, technological overload, economic/job stresses, caring for ill or aging parents or raising young children.
In addition past physical traumas can play a role: sports injuries, car accidents, head traumas (it is NOT necessary to have been knocked unconscious). What these type of injuries do is start a chain of causation that accumulates over time, only reaching the point at which they reveal themselves much later.
What happens is that cumulatively a person’s current environmental and lifestyle stressors couples with any past physical traumas lower their body’s threshold or tolerance to resist disease and these symptoms begin to exhibit. People then find themselves in a chronic pain state, out of balance with a wide variety of life infringing symptoms: balance/vertigo problems, etc.
When the brain is imbalanced, its normal sequence interrupted, it needs to be reset or restarted in order for the body to naturally heal itself. This is where Brain Based Therapy comes in.
The first step of Brain Based Therapy is evaluative. We assess how a person’s brain is firing, the state of their neurotransmitters through metabolic testing, careful patient interview and questionnaires. Using blood panels we consider the function of thyroid, liver, kidney and blood sugar levels. We must look at all aspects in order to deliver an accurate diagnosis.
Possible contributing conditions that can discovered during this testing include:
- Dysglycemia: an imbalance in the sugar metabolism/energy production mechanisms of the body.
- Hypoglycemia: a pathologic state produced by a lower than normal level of glucose (sugar) in the blood.
- Hyperglycemia: condition in which an excessive amount of glucose circulates in the blood plasma.
All of these conditions can either cause or be the result of inflammation, a now widely recognized component of heart disease, lupus, Graves’ disease, and fibromyalgia, Alzheimers, diabetes and more. Again, inflammation, a sign of your body attacking itself in a normal response gone awry, actually prevents your body from healing itself in the normal course of living.
Our goal is to turn this around. We will prescribe one or more therapeutic approaches designed to recover your body’s natural ability to heal you. Our assessment of the state of your body and what is happening to it will determine exactly what course is right for you. We must address what is abnormal in order to stop it and return your quality of life in the shortest possible period of time.
Your treatment overview will look like this:
1. Initial Testing to find out where the problem is
2. Under take therapeutic treatments
3. Retest after 1st therapy session in order to determine effectiveness/next step
4. Repeat until your condition(s) have been brought under control, quality of life returned.
Because your system has been undergoing chemical, emotional and physical traumas, sometimes for years, it is inadvisable to shock the system with “too much, too fast”. The body can react poorly to shocks, starting a cascade of negative reactions. Our gradual programs and immediate testing allow us to minimize the risks and graduate you to different technique when necessary. We will constantly analyze your situation in order to determine what will be the most effective.
Some of the Conditions We Treat with Brain Based Therapy
Many health problems today are not responsive to drugs or surgery. Brain-based therapy is an effective treatment for difficult and chronic cases caused by abnormal brain function.
These disorders include fibromyalgia, dizziness/vertigo, migraine headaches, cluster headaches, lower back pain, neck pain, sciatica or leg pain, spinal stenosis, shoulder and arm pain, numbness/paresthesia, insomnia or an inability to sleep soundly, restless leg syndrome, RSDS, tinnitus or ear noises, dystonia, and carpaltunnel syndrome.
We utilize cutting-edge tests to determine if you have a problem with your brain function, and correct those deficits by employing a combination of brain-training specially designed for you.
After the very first treatment, I had no pain shooting down my legs for the first time in months! The results speak for themselves. I feel better today than I have in years. Every aspect of my life is now able to flourish again! I can now do things I once had to put aside due to my disability. I can finally play with my kids without worry.
Ringing in Ears (Tinnitus)
I have been suffering from pain for 30 years following an injury. I suffered back pain, neck pain occasional numbness and tingling in to my arms and ringing in my ears. After starting care my symptoms started to disappear. Now my numbness and tingling are gone, back and neck pain are much better and the ringing in my ears very seldom are present, almost non-existent. I have so much more energy and am back to enjoying life again.
I suffered from migraine headaches and lack of feeling in my fingers and toes for six years. I was told by a neurologist that I would be on medication for my heart that was causing my problems. Ever since I have been treated at the office I have not had a migraine and no more lack of feeling in my fingers and toes. I will be going here for life!
When functioning correctly, the cerebellum receives adequate input, sending normal input to the brains frontal lobes, which sends sufficient input to the lower brain stem, keeping the mesencephalon from over firing.
Spinal Decompression uses sophisticated, cutting-edge therapy tables that create a negative pressure inside vertebral discs to relieve pain and dysfunction in patients’ necks and low backs. The tables do this by gently pulling on the spine, but with enough force to create a vacuum inside vertebral discs to not only take pressure off of pinched nerves, but to help reposition bulging discs and pull the herniated nucleus back into place.
Medical conditions are usually described in terms of acute, when an injury is severe and has just happened, or chronic, in which an injury or condition happened long ago but the pain, symptoms or problems with it have either been ever present, ongoing with occasional flare ups or constantly there in the background.
Acute conditions should be treated and corrected immediately, before the can have a chance to become chronic. Acute conditions might not require Brain Based Therapy.
Chronic conditions exhibit usually within 6 months but we see patients come in who have been suffering for years. Often they have exhausted every other treatment modality with no satisfactory results and at great expense and they are turning to us in desperation.
The key here is: Don’t wait. Whatever your condition, acute or chronic, please get it taken care of immediately. There is no point to suffering needlessly. Don’t underestimate or assume: even a small spinal injury can, over time, become a chronic condition. Seek multiple opinions and ask about the long term ramifications of your condition.
